Pet Therapy

Supporting Paws is a Community Interest Company (CIC) that trains assistance and companion dogs for a variety of disabilities and needs.

One of our Directors, Charlotte, has a diagnosis of Autism and ADHD as well as having a son with autism and complex and profound learning and difficulties and medical conditions. As a teacher, Charlotte has experience of working with several children and young people with a variety of additional needs. Currently studying towards a master’s degree in autism and is the co-author of a book on parenting neuro divergent children for Jessica Kingsley Publishers, Charlotte is also trained in a variety of autism therapies and interventions.

Supporting Paws and our dogs are delighted to be working with Aspire School and will be on hand some days to help with morning transitions and will be doing some 1:1 therapy as well as running a holistic life skills programme for Year One upwards throughout the academic year.

At Aspire School we strongly believe in the benefit of animals for therapeutic and educational purposes. As well as the input we receive from Supporting Paws, we also have other animals that are permanently onsite or are in school regularly as class pets. These animals support the pupils in developing their independence, empathy and life skills. Please see the below photos for some of the other animals at Aspire School.
